Cessnock is a Hunter Valley town surrounded by vineyards 160 km north of Sydney and 52 km west of Newcastle. Vines were first planted in 1866 and George Brown’s now famous coal find in 1892 really put Cessnock on the map. However today wine and tourism have replaced coal as the region’s primary earner.
